Scientific Name: Corylus americana
Height: 10-15 feet
Growth Rate: fast
Habitat:
Grows along ponds, streams, lakes and rivers, and in swamps. Prefers low, sunny areas. Will even grow well in sunny meadows that have plenty of water lurking under the surface.Seeds are eaten by ducks, geese and shorebirds. White tailed deer munch on twigs. Bees and butterflies visit flowers for nectar and help pollinate them. Wood ducks often roost in them and song birds often build nests in them. Other animals such as frogs, salamanders and insects use button bush as cover.
