Red Maple is a Native Species that is one of the first trees to flower in the spring. It has beautiful fall foliage, ranging from orange to red. It is highly susceptible to deer damage.
The red maple should not be confused with the Crimson King Maple, whose leaves are purple in color. Red Maple is flood tolerant but is sensitive to salt. It can be used in riparian buffers on streambanks and the upper shoreline.
